Transforming Education: Statistical Data Modelling
Sunway University is pleased to share highlights from our one-day academic excursion hosted by the School of Mathematical Sciences on 17 April 2024. Held at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, this gathering focused on strategising the development of our new undergraduate program, the BSc (Hons) in Statistical Data Modelling.
The primary objective of the event was to foster alignment among our academic staff involved in the instruction of this program and to devise effective strategies for its modernisation. Four key pillars guided our discussions:
- Curriculum Modernisation
- Pedagogical Enhancement
- Research Integration
- Authentic Assessment Design.
Throughout the session, participants engaged in the exchange of conceptual frameworks, practical ideas, and illustrative examples aimed at inspiring a re-evaluation and enhancement of both content and delivery methods within their respective subjects. Leveraging the G.R.O.W. coaching model, collaborative planning sessions were conducted to chart out actionable plans for the advancement of each subject.
Our overarching goal is to provide exceptional value and learning experiences to our students, thereby enriching their employability prospects. Through collective efforts, areas for program enhancement were identified, and new action plans were formulated to address these in the coming months.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all colleagues who generously contributed their time and expertise to this strategic planning session. Additionally, we express gratitude to our industry partners and alumni whose valuable insights during the preparation phase greatly informed our deliberations.
As we move forward, we remain committed to the continual improvement of our programs and the provision of an enriching educational experience for our students.
