Celebrating the Kampung Kira-Kira Community Project

The School of Mathematical Sciences is thrilled to introduce the full launch of the Kampung Kira-Kira Community Project! This exciting initiative underscores our commitment to engaging with the community through innovative educational programs that foster enthusiasm for mathematics and community collaboration.

In this venture, we have partnered with Sekolah Kebangsaan USJ 20, a local national primary school, where our dedicated students took the lead in empowering young learners and strengthening the community’s bonds. With a goal to make mathematics engaging and relevant, the team crafted activities that blended elements of Malaysia’s vibrant cultural heritage with foundational mathematical principles.

Over the course of a weekend, the project team organised an interactive series of mathematical games in a circuit-style format, bringing together more than 50 local primary school students. Participants eagerly moved from one station to another, solving Malaysian-themed mathematical problems and engaging in various games designed to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts. These hands-on activities not only challenged students intellectually but also connected mathematical learning to cultural elements, creating a meaningful and enjoyable experience for all involved.

The event received an overwhelmingly positive response. Teachers, parents, and students alike reported that the event was not only enjoyable but also sparked a genuine interest in mathematics. Our partner, Sekolah Kebangsaan USJ 20, noted that the students were especially motivated and inspired by the unique approach, which allowed them to experience math in an engaging, real-world context.

The School of Mathematical Sciences is deeply proud of the dedication and passion demonstrated by the organising team, who spent countless hours preparing activities and coordinating the event. Their commitment has left a lasting impact on the students and reflects the spirit of community and learning that defines our mission. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to each team member for their hard work.

Special thanks are extended to Headmaster A. Rahim Bin Mohd Mislani and Mr Mohamad Fakrullah bin Abdul Aziz for their invaluable support in bringing this project to life. Your collaboration and encouragement have been instrumental in making the Kampung Kira-Kira Community Project an inspiring reality for all involved!
