It was at this time where he was introduced to Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, who had sought the late Dato' Dr. Goh's advice regarding the newly established Sunway Education Group. Later on, following his departure from Government, he joined Sunway College in official capacity and subsequently served as a member of Sunway University's Board of Directors. Among his achievements, the late Dato' Dr. Goh introduced the highly acclaimed Jeffrey Cheah Distinguished Speakers Series (JCDSS) which provided the community and public invaluable opportunities to listen and interact with outstanding experts from around the world.
In his later years, despite being debilitated by Parkinson's Disease, he continued to make valuable contributions that helped the growth and expansion of Sunway University. Before he passed away in 2019, the late Dato' Dr. Goh generously donated the contents of his personal Library, which consisted of more than a thousand volumes, to Sunway University's Library.
On the eve of what was to be his father's 78th birthday, Alvin Goh, the youngest son of the late Dato' Dr. Goh, reached out to Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah with a heartfelt letter expressing his late father's parting words for Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah.
