Principal Activities

  1. Explore the myriad beneficial aspects of applied physics in medicine, industry and the environment, analysing utility and risk, with risk-mitigation and sustainable development being an essential aspect of all such studies
  2. Engage in the development of novel passive and active radiation dosimetry systems, analysis of naturally occurring radioactivity and furthering state-of-the-art radiobiological and organised tissue characterisation studies with emphasis on the use of novel sources of radiation
  3. Applications of physics in minerals and their beneficiation for sustainable development, advanced materials development, and in ensuring quality of the environment
  4. Furthering education on the national and international stage, in particular that of physics in modern technologies, through for example offering international conferences, consultancy, and student engagement
