Programmes offered in Collaboration with Lancaster University, UK

All undergraduate programmes and many postgraduate programmes in the School of Engineering and Technology are validated by Lancaster University, a top ten UK university. Our students who successfully complete these programmes will be awarded two certificates, making them graduates of both Sunway University and Lancaster University.

Lancaster University, ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world, is also consistently ranked highly in both international and UK Higher Education league tables.

Highly Qualified Academics

Our highly qualified academics comprise professors, associate professors and doctorate level lecturers who are strongly connected to the industry and actively involved in research. Our academics are from internationally well-known universities and have extensive experience in teaching and research to support the school’s commitment for academic excellence. In addition to teaching and research, they also have substantial industry experience. They are truly dedicated and committed to go the extra mile in offering advice and guidance to students.

Research Excellence

We are spearheading efforts to raise our research profile through cutting-edge research, scientific publications, research funding and project acquisitions, and establishment of new research centres. Our commitment to research excellence is evidenced by the various research awards we have achieved such as awards from the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Innovation Exhibition (ITEX) and best paper awards during conferences. We have also received external research grants, most notably the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) by the Malaysian Ministry of Education and grants by the Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD).

We have formed extensive research collaborations with local universities as well as international universities from various countries such as the UK, USA, Australia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. Our research outcomes and experience are integrated into our lectures to keep our students up-to-date with the latest technology and exciting ideas. Together, the research and the real-world facets allow our academics to provide students with an engaging and interactive learning experience. Students have access to our diverse research by taking up projects and being supervised by dedicated and experienced researchers.

To further support our growing research pursuits, we have established five specialist research centres:

5. Sunway Centre for Electrochemical Energy and Sustainable Technology

These research centres provide students and researchers opportunities to work on specialised research areas, partner with a diverse range of collaborators from academia and industry, and publish high-impact papers in top-ranking journals.

Industry Relevance

Our programme curriculum is constantly updated to keep up with current market needs. Our Industry Advisory Board meets at least once a year to ensure our curriculum is developed with up-to-date syllabus. We also ensure our graduates gain experience through their participation in internships and research projects as a result of our collaborations with the industry.
