Biography
Dr Sana Malik is a proven professional and academic in the field of built environment, secured her PhD in housing studies. She is committed to bringing positive change in the landscape of affordable housing and has a track record of strategic leadership for housing innovators. For the last 10 years, she has been involved with academia to impact the future direction of architectural and built environment education in Pakistan and globally. She is associated with Scopus-indexed journal “Housing & Society” published by Taylor & Francis as editorial member. She has been invited frequently to give distinguished speeches on the subject of low-income housing and PhD journey on international and national forums.

Achievements & Accolades
Establishment of Housing Research Center (HRC) Lahore, Pakistan
Being a passionate housing researcher, I felt the need to establish the first research center ever in Pakistan to promote the dialogue and research on Housing in the country. I was actively involved in convincing my fellow team members of the school for the need for this initiative in academia. The other tasks involved getting approval from the university charter, developing the center's website, and highlighting HRC on national and international platforms. I am also leading the social media pages (Facebook & Twitter) to update center activities on a regular basis.
Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Malaysia & Pakistan
I believe in collaboration and the exchange of ideas as a global door to learning from potential partners in teaching and research. This thought was initiated and executed by me along with like-minded colleagues in the form of MoA between the School of Housing, Building & Planning- HBP (Universiti Sains Malaysia) & School of Architecture & Planning - SAP (University of Management & Technology) for five years (2016-2021) to open a knowledge corridor for students and faculty members of both institutions for active research activities in disciplines of architecture and urban studies. Key duties involved in a leading position included acting as a communication bridge between two parties, getting approval from the relevant university offices and assisting in developing the MoA documents. Under this MoA, a graduate student (MS Housing & Community Development) successfully presented his work in USM and participated in an international conference in 2018.
LAUNCH OF MS HOUSING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (MS HCD) Lahore, Pakistan
After completing my Master’s degree in 2016, I felt the motivation to transfer knowledge and understanding to young undergraduate students in Pakistan, and I worked as a team leader in the launch of a new degree program in 2016 and endeavored for the development of the student exchange program with a Malaysian University to make this program an extraordinary success. I worked with full commitment for the graduate program accreditation from the competent National Authority (Higher Education Commission, Pakistan). I also designed the course and Prepared course outlines for housing design, housing policy, housing finance, and management, housing as a tool for community development, housing policy, and socio economic aspects of housing.
