Biography
Ir Dr Steven Hoo is a Professional Engineer (BEM), a Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council UK, IMechE), and the HRDCorp Certified Trainer. He obtained his B.Eng degree (Hons.) and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from UKM. He completed the PGCHeTL and obtained the SFHEA. He has over ten years of teaching experience. He has received numerous teaching & learning innovation awards and research funding such as IUCEL, FRGS, and QAA Enhancement Theme Fund. He is the chair of the IMechE International Young Members Committee, leading the regional young members chairs across seven international regions. His research interests include control systems, energy harvesting, TRIZ, and engineering education.

- IMechE South East Asia Region Innovation Challenge 2023. Design Competition for university students.
- STEM Festival 'Build Your Ideal Green City in 2030' event. A design competition for school students together with marketing team, in partnership with Perbadanan Putrajaya, and supported by IMechE UK and Malaysia. Impact reaching out to ~2000 people in public.
- IMechE SEAR Townhall 2021. The event gathered students, working engineers from different South East Asia Region countries to share good practices and initiative industry-academics collaboration. Impact reaching out to ~200 people.
- IMechE Regional Speak Out for Engineering 2022.
- QAA project – Transformation of Professional Development through Digital Learning. This project launched a hybrid professional development innovation competition to support practical learning through remote learning.
