Achievements & Accolades
i) Design, Development and Fabrication of PCM integrated Cooling Jackets for Human Thermal Comfort: A thermally comfort, lightweight, affordable, passive, safer, ease of operation and ecofriendly PCM (eutectic composition) integrated cooling was developed with TRL 4-5. The prototype (PCM-based cooling jackets) has been pilot tested under various working field, including workers (construction works, garbage cleaner & traffic policemen’s) working outdoors under hot sunshine conditions.
ii) Engineering of tetrapods based PCM for energy harvesting: Developed and experimentally characterized the thermal and optical performance of organic PCM (paraffin) with thin and thicker arm tetrapods, which resulted in thermal conductance increase of 95%. This was the find of the kind, where ZnO tetrapod shaped nanoparticles were used for energizing PCM.
iii) Experimental evaluation of Solar Cooker with different fin configurations: Modified a solar cooker with extended fin configurations of different shapes (hexagonal, cross and pin) and evaluated their thermal efficiency. This project was funded by TNSCST, Chennai and it was acquired by the fellow. The performance of solar cooker increased by 64.4% with hexagonal configuration-based fins. The fin structured solar cooker based on the energy analysis resulted in 1495 MJ of fuel equivalent saving per year. [ I successfully acquired and executed independently when I was working as Assistant Professor in INDIA]
