Biography

Prof. Satesh Namasivayam has over 15 years’ worth of experience in higher education. He has held several academic leadership positions where, he has played an instrumental role in the execution of various strategies that have helped in positioning academic Schools. As a third-generation mechanical engineer, he is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate, registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Prof. Satesh is an evaluator with the Engineering Accreditation Council, Malaysia. He is also the only Malaysian Member on the International Steering Committee for the Global Grand Challenges, National Academy of Engineering, USA.

Achievements & Accolades

  1. 1st Runner-up for the “Malaysian Education Ministers Special Award for Curriculum Design and Innovative Delivery” in 2019
  2. Founding Director of Malaysia’s 1st Grand Challenge Scholars Programme, recognized by the National Academy of Engineering, USA.
  3. Led the Journal of Engineering Science and Technology (JESTEC) – a WoS and Scopus indexed journal as Editor-in-Chief to secure USD100,000 in revenue over a 5-year period and led the journal to being recognized as the top journal in Malaysia for Green Technology.
  4. Secured funding in excess of USD360,000 for industry-based consulting projects and university research grants.
  5. Designed and maintained one of Malaysia’s largest 3-D printing facilities and CDIOTM Incubator Learning Space in Malaysia.
  6. Successfully constructed & executed a competency focused e-learning assessment tool to measure learning outcome attainment.
  7. Spearheaded and successfully developed a comprehensive execution plan for the Malaysian National Energy Efficiency transformation program, Ministry of Energy.
  8. Established the framework, style and detailed implementation approach for the Green Technology Foresight Study on behalf of the Malaysian-Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Prime Minister’s Department.
